O My Moon

O my Moon,
Be my guide.
In this darkness,
Show me light.

I want to follow you.
To world’s end.
Lead me to my destiny,
Take my hand.

You wake me up,
You make me see,
All this beauty,
That could be.

I may not see you,
But I’m aware,
Silent, and far away,
You are there.

All alone, all this while,
Don’t you long for more?
Find your missing piece
And become whole?

Look at me,
As I at you.
Two lost children.
That is true.

We may seem different,
Show different moods.
But we come from one place,
Share deep roots.

I yearn for you,
With all your scars.
You’re my only Moon,
Amongst the stars.

But if I’m not worthy,
Of your grace,
I’ll find a way, just
Promise me this:

Far above and beyond,
Forever stay so bright.
As you look now, beautiful,
On this river tonight.

O my Moon,
Be my guide.
In this darkness,
Show me light.

The seeds of this little gem were sown recently, as I was driving down a long, open road, with a brilliant Moon on the side.

And although, the poem did take root as an ode to the Moon, it quickly evolved into much more than that. I leave it up to you to figure out what that is… 🙂

Be Aware Of Your Path…

If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.

– Lao Tzu

When I first came across this quote, I thought it was a warning to change one’s path before it was too late, before one ended up at a regrettable destination. I always thought that the quote was only about avoiding negative outcomes.

However, just today, I came across this comment, that totally changed how I look at the quote.

Concept Of A “Country”

What does it mean when we say that a “country” has done or achieved something? Let’s look at a couple of examples:

  • “Country X successfully launched a major space probe.”
  • “An underdog team from country X wins a major sport competition.”
  • “Country X attacks country Y.”

What or whom exactly are we referring to by “country”? Whom should we congratulate on the achievement? Whom can we blame for the war?

Why Old People Are So “Grouchy”…

If you belong to the “younger” generation, at some point, you’ve probably thought how irritating and grouchy old people can be at times. Not to say that all of them are annoying all the time, but sometimes, you can’t help but feel that the oldies exhibit typical “old people” behavior – they grumble a lot, say mean things, try to order those around them, give unsolicited, “useless” advice, etc.

Full Of Themselves…

Many-a-times, we come across people who we think are just so full of themselves – they can only think and talk about themselves, will find ways to segue in to any conversation and make it about them, will disregard what other people are saying, and overall, you just get a feeling that when you are talking to them, they are not really there, and are lost in their own thoughts.

Not to say that such people don’t exist, but I think there are some people who may not necessarily belong to this category, but whose behaviour may cause us to think that they do.Read More »

Switching Jobs? Think About This…

Recently, I’ve been thinking about switching jobs. And I’m sure many of you would agree that deciding to switch jobs, and evaluating options when they become available, is not an easy task. It isn’t for me, at least. I think it’s a very big and important decision, the kind that could really change one’s life’s direction, and I think one needs to make this decision in the “right frame of mind”, and after asking the “right” questions.Read More »

Just Chance? Or More..?

Have you ever experienced something where seemingly random things “speak” to you in some way that’s very relevant to you at that particular point of time?

To illustrate: I’ve recently been trying to choose between two options, but haven’t been able to decide one way or another because both options have some pros and cons, and I’m not really able to pick one option over the other. So, I’ve been stuck at this point for a few days, going nowhere. Then, I come across this:Read More »

Annoying Or Endearing?

So, recently I came across the video for a new song of a particular female singer. And that made me realize something which I’m going to use to bore you in this post. The realization was: how easy it was for me to go down two wildly different paths based on the exact same input.

A Better World

The world we live in can feel like a rough and tough place sometimes. We are all just trying our best to deal with this life that is given to us. We have our fears, we have our hopes. At any given point of time, it’s difficult to say what is going on inside a person’s head, but you can be sure that a lot is going on.

At times, all one can do is keep hold of all this chaos. And that may well be the greatest thing that person does in her entire life.Read More »

Little White Lies

A friend asks for your opinion on his new hairstyle, or blog, which you don’t like. But you tell him, it’s nice. He asks if you’d go watch a movie with him this weekend, but you’d rather just lie around the house. You tell him, you have relatives coming over.

Why do we tell these little white lies? Probably, the most popular answer would be to spare someone’s feelings. After all, a white lie isn’t doing any harm to anyone, and if it helps avoid hurting someone, then why not? You’ve probably done this, and probably, will again in the future.

I’m no saint; I have done this too. Not that I’m proud of it. But, I have been trying to avoid this as much as possible. And it’s not without reason.
